What are you looking forward to for PIDC 2008?
Meeting old and new friends in the Philippine debate community, lots of fun and booze, good debating and high level competition. Also, walking around the UP campus from the convening hall to the (far-flung?) debate rooms would be a unique experience, especially if one is under the influence of alcohol (I'm not saying it has to be me, haha).
What do you want participants to bring to the game?
New ideas, fresh arguments and insights to issues, other stuff that will surprise me, and... great debate outfits to attract, not put off, the adjudicator's attention... (ehem)
The Filipino debater is creative, inventive, and innovative (I finally found a use for that line from the PSHS creed).
You would love to adjudicate a top level match with speakers who know how to use humor, debating on the usual motions for Philippine semifinals (sexual politics & sexual deviance).
The way to an adjudicator's heart is a high feedback score. Hehe.
My truly Filipino guilty pleasure is crispy green mangoes with Ilocano bagoong.
